What To Omit When Next You’re Typing or Saying a Birthday Wish

From childhood to adulthood, I’ve watched words come to pass –the ones said playfully, out of the blues, during prayer, in an argument and out of anger. That’s why I’m so big on words. It carries so much power that can heal, destroy and create.

One of the things that can make me distance myself from a friend I so much like is careless use of words. If I talk to you about not being comfortable with the negativity your word breathes and you still continue, that’s actually a big red flag for me. It’s this same reason I find it hard to say “Amen” to a person who curses all the time.

“Word” is a weapon … eiiiiiii looks like we’re moving out already. That’s not what I’m here to peel off today.

So, there’s this popular wish that fly around during birthdays. “I wish you all you wish yourself” “I wish you everything your heart desires”
Calm down, omo iya mi. I know you said or typed it with good intention. That’s why I’m not being hard on you while addressing it.
Have you ever thought of one of the person’s wishes being to die because (s)he is tired of life? Or to take over your business? What if the person desires to have what belongs to you and plan to kill you in the process? What if the person desires to join a dark society that’ll lead to his or her death?

And now, you’re wishing them all they wish themselves? Do you know people who have committed suicide in time past once had people who wished them “I pray God grants you everything your heart desires”? And friends who ended up going their separate ways due to betrayal?

I know you trust that person so well not to wish you bad but it’s not just about that. Even you shouldn’t wish yourself everything your heart desires. What if that thing you wish to have is not the good thing it appears to be?

So, when next you want to type “May all your wishes come through”, “I wish you all that your heart desires”, remember to avoid generalisations and insert “positive” or “good”.
